STEAM Learning

We enjoyed a time of STEAM during Science this week. While doing a research project about animal survival, the STEAM challenge was to create a habitat in which your animal could survive. Many students went above and beyond to thinking about true colors, plants, and details needed in order to ensure Lego animal survival. And then we took lots of fun pictures which are here for you to enjoy 🙂

Disfrutamos un tiempo de STEAM durante las ciencias esta semana. Estamos en el proceso de hacer un proyecto de investigar acerca del sobrevivimiento de un animal, y el desafio del STEAM fue crear un habitat en el cual el animal escogido puede sobrevivir. Los estudiantes cumplieron mas alla de lo esperado cuando pensaron en los colores verdaderos, plantas, y detalles necesarios para asegurar que el animal sobreviviera. Y despues tomamos muchas fotos que estan aqui para que ustedes las puedan disfrutar 🙂 

Reading With A Buddy

In the classroom , after independent reading , we get with a partner , read together or take turns reading each page.This will help us catch our mistakes in reading fluently.

We have a section in our reading binder about partner reading. We can only be with one person 3 times, but we can’t be with the same person three times in a row. We have to finish writing in our reading binder in order to partner read.

”I would give it a five star rating”says Kamila.

”I would do it all day.” says Jazlynn. Sometimes we get a special booklet for reading fluency practice (or something else we need to practice ) with a partner or more.                                               

       

En la clase , después de leer independiente , nos vamos con un compañero para leer con el/ella.Esto nos ayuda en leer con fluidez. Tenemos una parte de leer con un compañero en nuestros carpetas de leer.Podemos estar con la misma persona tres veces pero no puede ser la misma persona tres veces en una fila. Nosotros se tener que terminar escribiendo en nuestro portafolio de leer para leer con una pareja.

“Yo lo daría 5 estrellas.” dice Kamila.

”Yo Lo podría  hacer todo el dia “ dice Jazlynn. La maestra nos da un librito de fluencia con un compañero o más .

Halloween

Recently in our classroom we had our first auction and Halloween. Here is a picture of our costume parade. We walked around the school and we also got some exercise. While we were  outside at the parade we could see other cool costumes. Overall it was a very good Halloween.

Esta semana en nuestra clase tuvimos un desfile. Aqui esta una foto de nuestro desfile de disfraces. Caminamos alrededor de la escuela y también hicimos algo de ejercicio. Cuando eras afuera podías ver unos genial costumbres. Sobre todo fue un muy buen halloween.

On Halloween we also had our first ever AUCTION! Students brought in objects like toys, stuffed animals and even the teacher had some books and other things, so we had some people talking really fast to auction things. If you brought an object, you could earn care cash and in our class if other people bought it, they had to pay you.

En Halloween también tuvimos nuestra primera SUBASTA! Estudiantes trajo unos  juguetes, animales de peluche y también la maestra trajo unos libros y otras cosas. Entonces tuvimos unos niños hablando muy rápido para vender cada objeto. Si tu trajiste un objeto, podías ganar unos care cash y si una persona lo compro. Tenian que pagarte.

Junior Achievement: Learning about Business

Recently in our classroom we had a special visitor. He taught us about business and how to run them correctly. We played a game where we had to create a hot dog stand with the expenses and profit. The last part you had to deal with the ups and downs of your business,  like getting robbed, extra tips and things that could be good or bad. This is where the math comes in at the end: you have to add the money you earned and subtract the expenses that you had to buy to have a successful business. Overall learning about banking and the ups and downs in life was fun.

Recientemente en nuestra clase tuvimos un visitante especial. Él nos enseñó sobre tener un negocio y cómo hacerlo correctamente. Hicimos un juego de una tienda de perros calientes con los gastos y la ganancia. Al final del juego necesitábamos manejar lo bueno y lo malo de tu negocio, como tropezar, moneda extra de propinas  y cosas que pueden ser buenas o malas. Pero aquí es donde las matemáticas se aplica porque al final necesitas sumar y restar lo que gastaba para tener un negocio exitoso. También es muy divertido con los arribas y abajos en el vida.
