Animal Shelter

We went to the Animal Shelter for a field trip. We went on a school bus. The bus was very small. The road was full of potholes We were waiting outside for a long time and we saw memorials of the time and step that finally opened the door. Then we talked about the rules of touching animals. Then we talk about how to train the cats so they are used to people. They gave us some sticks that had jingles and feathers and ribbons we had a lot of fun playing with the cats. Then we went to the dog room and they gave us treats for dogs. Then we went to the bus and drove the driver to a nearby park and the park was very cool. Then we got on the bus and went back to school.

 

 Fuimos al Refugio de animales para un paseo.fuimos en un autobús escolar.el autobús era muy pequeño. El camino estaba lleno de baches Estuvimos esperando fuera por un largo tiempo y vimos memoriales el tiempo paso y paso asta que por fin abrieron la puerta. Después hablamos sobre las reglas de tocar los animales. Después hablamos de como entrenar los gatos para que estén acostumbrados a a las personas. Nos dieron unos palos que tenían unos cascabeles y plumas y listones nos divertimos muchísimo jugando con los gatos. Después fuimos al cuarto de los perros y nos dieron golosinas para perros. Después fuimos al autobús  y manejó el chofer a un parque cercano y le parque estaba bien cool . Después nos subimos en autobús y nos fuimos ala escuela .

 ¡De nuevo a las noticias! En la edición de esta semana contamos cómo los estudiantes escribieron historias increíbles con solo dos semanas para hacerlo. Bueno, si piensas bien, es mucho tiempo para escribir una sola historia y es muy simple. Bueno, no es tan simple como parece, porque es solo la última parte de todo lo que se publica, y lo sé, personalmente hice uno para conocer el proceso que hicimos. Primero escribimos varias ideas y luego elegimos una y luego comenzamos a redactar. Hicimos ese paso una y otra vez hasta que tuvimos varios borradores. Entonces el maestro nos hizo elegir un borrador. Luego hicimos un mapa de la historia. Escena uno (que era nuestro borrador) y luego escribimos el resto de las escenas. Pero tal vez pienses así que escribiste todas las escenas en un día y eso no parece difícil. Bueno, no escribimos una pequeña historia, noooo escribimos largas historias. Solo tuvimos diez minutos para escribir una escena y si no la terminamos tuvimos que hacerlo mañana o para hacer la tarea. Cuando terminamos todas las escenas, llegamos al siguiente paso de la computadora Google Docs que estoy usando para escribir todos mis artículos. La mayoría de nosotros tenía historias muy largas.

           Well back to the news！On this week’s edition we tell how students wrote amazing stories with only two weeks to do it. Well if you are thinking well that’s a long time for writing just one story and it’s so simple. Well it’s not as simple as it may look like because that’s just the last part the whole publishing thing and i know it i personally did one myself so i know the process that we did. First we wrote are several ideas and then we chose one and then we started to draft. We did that step over and over again until we had several drafts. Then the teacher had us choose a draft. Then we made a story map out. Scene one (which was our draft) and then we wrote the rest of the scenes. But you maybe thinking so you wrote all the scenes in one day and that doesn’t seem hard.well we didn’t write some little story , noooo we wrote long stories. We only had ten minutes to write one scene and if we did not finish it we had to do it tomorrow or for homework. When we finished all of the scenes we got to the next step computer google docs which i am using to write all my articles. Most of us had very long stories.

 

          

August 26th, 2017

A few days ago we went to the park.Can you believe we walked a kilometer? what we did was build boats made from aluminum foil. The first one boat a was designed and build in the classroom by teams. Each team build a slightly different boat. Almost everybody made a different shape boat.Our boat had two sails and just and for decoration  I put ss. Our group then I laminated the paper and with glue and then  we set out to the park. When we got to the stream, we took off our shoes and our socks. My  mom (team leader) along with the rest of the group (several students) walked into the river, the water was really cold! brrr  i thought .The rocks were sort of sharp and they hurt my feet ouch I thought. Then me and my mom let go of the boat hits a rock and it  stops , my mom gives it a push and of it goes .then  and we went running to the stopping point so  I  went running to the other side of the river while   I was on the other side of the river i noticed  it had sunk and i went to pick it up.Then we went to make another boat, boat b we decided to  make a triangle boat instead. We tested it and it worked.           

 

 

Hace unos días fuimos a un parque acerca de nuestra escuela. Puede creer que caminamos un kilómetro. Lo que hicimos fue construir barcos hechos de papel de aluminio. El primer barco fue diseñado y construido en el aula por equipos. Cada equipo construye un barco ligeramente diferente. Casi todo el mundo hizo un barco de forma diferente. Nuestro barco tenía dos velas y sólo y para la decoración puse ss. Mi grupo entonces he laminado el papel y con pegamento y luego nos dirigimos al parque. Cuando llegamos al arroyo, nos quitamos los zapatos y los calcetines. Mi madre (líder del equipo) junto con el resto del grupo (varios estudiantes) entramos en el río, el agua estaba muy fría! brrr pensé. Las rocas eran un poco afiladas y me dolían los pies ai, pensé. Entonces mi mamá y yo soltamos el bote golpea una roca y se detiene, mi mamá le da un empujón y de él va. Entonces fueron corriendo al punto de parada así que fui corriendo al otro lado del río mientras yo estaba en el otro lado del río me di cuenta de que había hundido y fui a recogerlo. Entonces fuimos a hacer otro barco, barco b decidimos hacer un barco triángulo en su lugar. Lo probamos y funcionó.

 

August 21st, 2017

During our first days of school this year, we were able to view a partial solar eclipse. Students enjoyed making projection boxes in order to view the eclipse safely. We also had special glasses to help us view the phenomenon!

 Durante los primeros días de clases, vimos un parcial eclipse solar. Los estudiantes disfrutaron construir cajas de projección para poder observer el eclipse seguramente. ¡También tuvimos lentes especiales para ayudarnos a ver el fenómeno!

 

U.S. Map Painting

Despite many rainy days that slowed down the painting process, we were able to finish our U.S. map just in time for summer vacation! Students learned how to measure on a ruler to the nearest sixteenth of an inch, how to multiply mixed numbers in order to expand the map from an 8.5”x11” paper to the final version, and how to draw an enlarged version based on the original. There was tons of teamwork and learning happening at every moment!

Aunque habían muchos días lluviosos durante el proceso de pintar, por fin terminamos pintar nuestro mapa de los EEUU apenas antes de las vacaciones de verano. Los estudiantes aprendieron medir con una regla al decimosexto de una pulgada, multiplicar los números mixtos para poder amplificar el mapa original del tamaño 8.5”x11”a la versión final, y también dibujar una versión amplificada usando las matemáticas y la imagen original. ¡Había un montón de trabajo en equipo y todos aprendieron y disfrutaron a la vez!

More Mystery Skype

Awhile ago, we posted about our Mystery Skype adventures. We enjoyed a couple more sessions this week with classes in Kansas and Puerto Rico! Here are some pictures of our teamwork and technology opportunities:

US Map Making

This last month of school we are doing are painting a huge map of the USA on the playground and hopefully we finish  this project before the end of the year it’s a long process. It involves a lot math patience and time.First we measured in inches then  we have to blow it up by 40 inches larger than a paper printed map, so this week has been very long but very fun. The teacher has already purchased some paint for the huge map of the US. Then hopefully next week we will get to paint it outside on the playground or well the black top.The  map will be so huge that about 1-5 people could fit on Arizona. Lets hope it doesn’t rain!!!

            El mapa de los EEUU

Este último mes de escuela que estamos haciendo está pintando un mapa enorme de los EEUU en el patio y esperamos terminar este proyecto antes del final del año que es un proceso largo. Implica mucha paciencia de la matemáticas y tiempo. Primero medimos en pulgadas entonces tenemos que soplarlo encima por 40 pulgadas más grande que un mapa impreso de papel, así que esta semana ha sido muy largo pero muy diversión. El profesor ya ha comprado pintura para el enorme mapa de los Estados Unidos. Entonces espero que la semana que viene podremos pintarla afuera en el patio de juegos o bien en la parte superior negra. El mapa será tan grande que aproximadamente 1-5 personas podrían encajar en Arizona. Esperemos que no llueva !!!

Pay it forward

                                

Pay It Forward was one the best books i ever read because it was so sad and happy but every chapter we read made most of the class want to read more because it was breathtaking.*Spoiler Alert* The summary of the book is basically a 12 year old boy named Trevor who had an assignment to find a way to change the world and put into action he decided take and it was extra credit so didn’t have but he did and the idea to pay it forward which is to be nice to 3 strangers and then every single person had to pay it forward instead of paying it back and to to pay it forward the three people individually have to pay it forward to three people each.He thinks he fails but he doesn’t but the book is so much to take in i’ll explain the end so basically trevor original dad comes back which ends the relationship with his mom and teacher but he gets kicked out and the teacher named reuben and his mom and then gets invited to meet the president and then his teacher proposes Trevor’s Mom and it’s happier because they got engaged at vietnam memorial and it’s a beautiful moment because Reuban the Teacher fought in Vietnam War and you can tell because he has an eye patch.Then after the happy moment Trevor sees some kid get bullied and when goes to help someone pulls a knife and stabs Trevor and he goes to the hospital and you know how we said he thought know one paid it forward well one of the people was Jerry he was homeless and Trevor helped him he went to jail so that’s why Trevor thought he didn’t pay it forward and when he was in the hospital Jerry sent a letter saying he left and he still lives on the street but he payed it forward he waited for someone to go close to the bridge he lived close to so he can save he/she’s life and he went towards a woman some day because she was about to jump but Jerry convinced the lady to get a cup of coffee and they now get coffee and are friends and then he said how much more can you do then save a person’s life and Trevor also saved Gordie’s life (the kid getting bullied) and not only that but he saved his life by sacrificing his life and.Afterwards he had a special event for his funeral and he was famous for the idea “paying it forward” and Reuben got to speak and that’s how it ended with millions of people having to react to a 12 year old boy die and in the prologue it did say it involved a big sacrifice so the class had it coming without realising it.  

 

Pay It Forward fue uno de los mejores libros que he leído ya que era tan triste y feliz, pero cada capítulo que leí hizo que la mayoría de la clase quisiera leer más porque era impresionante. El resumen del libro es básicamente un niño de 12 años llamado Trevor que tenía una tarea para encontrar una manera de cambiar el mundo y poner en acción que decidió tomar y fue un crédito extra por lo que no tenía, pero lo hizo y la idea de pagar adelante que es ser agradable a 3 extraños y luego Cada persona tenía que pagarlo adelante en lugar de pagarlo de nuevo y para pagarlo adelante las tres personas individualmente tienen que pagarlo adelante a tres personas cada uno.El piensa

Él falla pero no lo hace, pero el libro es tanto para tener en que voy a explicar el final tan básicamente papá original Trevor vuelve que termina la relación con su madre y profesor, pero él es expulsado y el profesor llamado reuben y su mamá y A continuación, ser invitado a conocer al presidente y luego su profesor propone la mamá de Trevor y es más feliz porque se comprometieron en el monumento vietnam y es un momento hermoso porque reuban el profesor luchó en la guerra de Vietnam y se puede decir porque tiene un parche. Luego, después del momento feliz, Trevor ve a un niño ser intimidado y cuando va a ayudar a alguien a sacar un cuchillo y apuñalar a Trevor y él va al hospital y ya sabes cómo dijimos que pensaba que Trevor pensaba que no tenía que pagarle, No tuvo que pagar por ello. Trevor pensó que no tenía que pagar por ello. No he podido tomar una taza de café, pero no sé qué esperar. Y él es el único que ha salvado su vida sacrificando su vida y. Después de haber tenido un es la primera persona a tener un funeral y es famoso por la idea de “pagar adelante” y Reuben llegó a hablar y así es como Terminó con millones de personas que tienen que reaccionar a un niño de 12 años en el prólogo de gran sacrificio por lo que la clase tenía que venir sin darse cuenta.

Owl pellet experiment in the Classroom

 A few days ago Mrs.Rodriguez ordered OWL PELLETS for an experiment.”Eww!!” Almost everyone said. At first some people were a bit grossed out and gagged just knowing owl’s  spitted it out didn’t help the case at all.”It was disgusting, and cool at the same time”said student #5.

En nuestra clase la maestra rodríguez dio una sopresa que esta muy como raro y no pertinente al que estamos haciendo hasta que nos dio un papel diciendo que decía cosas como fotografías de cráneos,y huesos, mandíbulas,etc. Al principio algunas personas estaban un poco asqueado y amordazado y sabiendo que el búho lo escupió no ayudó en absoluto el caso.Cosas que necesitamos guantes,Clips de papel, papel de aluminio, palillos de dientes.

“Fue asqueroso, y fresco al mismo tiempo” dijo el estudiante # 5.

Kane County Cougars

Last week we took a trip to the Kane County Cougars game against the Kernels. It was very fun. We went from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. By the time we left, cougars were losing 2 to 1 hopefully they made a comeback and beat the kernels. Off to the side there were the mascots Annie cougar and Ozzie cougar signing stuff when they were not in the field. When they were in the field they were cheering on the players or doing mini games with people from the audience. Also before the game started there were kids from high school on the field playing the national anthem on drums,violins flutes, tuba and even the accordion. I was watching tv late that night and they said that the cougars won the game against the kernels. So they did make a comeback. That day was a great day.

La semana pasada tomamos un viaje al condado de kane el juego de los pumas contra los granos era muy divertido que fuimos de 9:00 am a 2:00 pm.En el momento en que nos fuimos pumas estaban perdiendo 2 a 1 esperamos que hicieron una remontada y venció a los núcleos de al lado que estaban las mascotas de puma annie y Ozzie puma firmar cosas cuando no estaban en el campo. Cuando están en el campo donde están animando a los jugadores o haciendo mini juegos con la gente de la audiencia. También antes de que el juego comenzó allí donde los niños de la escuela secundaria en el campo tocando el himno nacional en la batería, violines, flautas, tuba e incluso el accordion. Estaba viendo televisión Tarde esa noche y dijeron que los pumas ganaron el juego contra los granos. Así que hicieron una reaparición. iEse día fue un gran día!
